On a positive note..

22 Apr

I finished painting the spare bedroom! The color is called Anonymous (gray), its from Behr and it was chosen after my new roommate (more on that later) overruled the purple. In the end, I’m really happy with the color… but I’m still going to find a place for  the purple inside IBB.

You’ll also notice that I got all the stickers off the door to the attic. You may remember it looking like this:

It looks better but many of them also removed the finish from the door. So I’m going to have to find a solution for that … perhaps someone out there has an idea. Removing the door and refinishing it is the last thing I’d like to do, and painting it is not an option.

I also finished up the hallway:

It finally got the last coat of Nantucket Fog and it looks a million times better.

This is an important milestone. Why? Well.. this means that everything on the main floor is close to finished besides the kitchen and bathroom. What’s left to do?

Well…
I need to install crown molding in the bedrooms
I need to do some touch ups in a few spots
I need to repair the windows
I need to find and install the light fixtures in the bedrooms
I need to clean up some of my paint slops on the baseboards
and I need to repair a couple of doors and replace some of their hardware

Now, that’s not so bad.

How did you get the stickers off the door? My son’s house used to be rental property and the last renters were crackheads (literally) who put stickers all over almost every door in the house. The bathroom door has sticker letters spelling out “I ❤ rock & roll".

Hi Jayne. I very carfully used a razor balde it was quick and easy. If you look close you can see where the stickers were beacuse they removed some of the finish… but it does look better than it did.
