Going for the Gold

18 May

Just finished with the first coats in the kitchen. Its a little golder than I thought it was going to be. In retrospect none of the colors I picked seemed to be a subtle as I thought they would be. Anyways just a quick post to share the progress.

It’s always nice to have a fresh coat of paint for spring. It’s funny sometimes how we pick colors. After we finish painting our interior I realized all the rooms were some shade of blue. I was surprised because I didn’t realize I liked blue so much. Maybe you just secretly like bold colors.

I also have a blue issue. I really had to try hard to get a mix of colors in the house.

I like the white of the cabinets against the gold. They really pop. Is that grey you used in the back of the cabinets? Will they stay as open shelving? I really like the look.

Thanks! Yeah I used grey since all my dishes are white and I wanted them to stand out against the back. If I had more than two cupboards I think I’d leave some open but storage is at such a premium in that kicthen I think it would be to hard keeping them display worthy. Keep your fingers crossed that the Rustoleum Countertop Transformations kit works better than the cabinet kit, because thats up next!

PS- your second garden looks great! Have you met many of your neighbors while working outside?

One thing I miss about where I live now in New England in the boonies is I hardly ever see neighbors. In CA people were outside in their yards all the time in the better weather.
